Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, which is used to prevent the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one e-mail, but to appear as being sent from a different one, usually with the purpose to fraud the recipient someway. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain, a special record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers worldwide have it. The record contains all email servers that are permitted to send legitimate messages from an e-mail address part of the domain. When an email is sent, the very first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and in case its sending server is permitted, the message is forwarded to the targeted destination. When, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the given domain, the message won't be sent and it will be removed. Whenever you use this solution, it'll stop third parties from sending spam e-mails which look as if they have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for any domain hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud platform with no more than a few clicks. The function can be found in the Emails section of our state-of-the-art Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to use it is to pick one of your domains from the drop-down list and to type in the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers which will be approved to send email messages from your emails. As an additional option you may also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only if it has our MX records, in other words when our servers handle the email addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This option will give you the best degree of security, but it's not applicable when only your website is on our servers while your emails for the domain are managed in another place. Regardless, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses secure from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you'll be able to protect your email addresses by activating the SPF protection service for every domain hosted in the account with just a few clicks. You can do this from the Emails section of our Hepsia Control Panel that is included with the semi-dedicated accounts and even in case you have no previous experience with such issues, you won't have any kind of problems to activate the security. All that you will have to do is to pick a domain from a drop-down menu and then type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. When the updated record propagates, messages from your emails will be delivered around the world only if they are sent from that specific server. If your emails are taken care of by our company and not by a third-party supplier, you can also benefit from an option for emails to be sent only if the domain name contains our MX records and the latter would be the safest option. When you have any kind of questions about thisfunction, you will be able to contact our tech support crew 24/7.
